Hello, Maria Rinaldi Hueseman is the author of the Duh Bruh book series — a collection of social-emotional learning stories written for kids in grades K - 5 and for every parent who has ever sat up at night wondering how to help their child through the messy, beautiful, sometimes heartbreaking world of friendships. As the mom of two daughters, Maria watches closely as they navigate the ordinary but enormous challenges of growing up and gets back to basics with old-school common-sense advice to build kids' confidence.
My Story
Maria has seen it all as her little girls grow up — the jealousy that sneaks in even between best friends, the sting of feeling left out, and the courage it takes to let someone new in. She looked for books that gave her daughters not just a story to connect with, but actual tools they could use. When she couldn’t find quite the right one, she decided to write Duh Bruh to meet kids - primarily girls -where they are, with a little humor and zero judgment. The books are filled with easy coping mechanisms to get through difficult situations kids can actually apply using a practical problem-solving framework called S.O.A.R., and characters who feel like real kids: imperfect, growing, and trying their best. Maria believes that when children see their feelings reflected on the page and walk away with something useful, books become more than stories - they teach lessons and strategies for coping with hard things in life. Maria lives with her husband and two daughters, who remain her greatest teachers and most honest critics. She is currently at work on more books in the Duh Bruh series.
